The Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College Board of Trustees invites applications and nominations for the position of President. The Board seeks a proven leader with commitment to the technical college mission and vision.

Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College serves 11 counties in northwest Wisconsin with four campus locations (Ashland, New Richmond, Rice Lake, and Superior), two branch locations (Hayward and Ladysmith), a Learning Center in Spooner, and administrative headquarters in Shell Lake. The College has an enrollment of over 26,000 students with a dedicated faculty of 147 full time and 800 adjunct instructors.

The president of WITC will be a demonstrated leader committed
to successfully assess and address the following opportunities and challenges:
Forging partnerships with business, schools, and government to effectively develop programs in emerging fields and technology.
Meeting the educational workforce demands of a large geographic and economically disparate area through innovation, programs, and services.
Committing to quality improvement, student success, and the needs of emerging populations, including increasing minority populations.
Undertaking a collaborative planning process that involves all constituent groups to set priorities, allocate limited resources, and address infrastructure and facilities needs.
Building seamless service to students in a diverse multi-campus district while maintaining local community identity.
Identifying new sources of funding from the community and government to increase support for the college from the community.
The WITC Board of Trustees seeks a qualified person who possesses personal and professional characteristics and experiences consistent with the following profile.
Demonstrated commitment to the purpose and mission of the technical college.
A proven visionary and collaborative leader who values the contributions of others, is an effective communicator, and practices the art of listening. Someone with a personable approach who engages all constituents.
A strategic forward thinker with the ability to effectively respond to change.
Understanding of Carver Policy Governance, the ability to delegate, set clear benchmarks to measure success, and experience working with a Board of Trustees.
A confident leader with an innate sense of honesty, integrity, and fairness.
A fiscally responsible strategic planner with experience managing large budgets and a proven track record with fund raising and resource development.
Willingness to connect with all communities within the service area.
A politically savvy individual with an understanding of lobbying at the state and federal levels who will also work with local governments.
Experience with:
a. Distance learning.
b. Fostering
effective communication in a multi-campus, large geographic environment, and
strong ties between
educational institutions.
c. Total
quality improvement philosophies (i.e. AQIP and Baldrige).
d. Developing
and maintaining relationships with business.
e. Nurturing
the success of disadvantaged and minority communities.
f. Working
with organized labor.
g. Preparing
students to function in a complex global economy.
Masters required. An earned doctorate from an accredited institution of higher education preferred.
Ability to meet
all the requirements necessary to obtain an instructional administrative
certificate in the State of Wisconsin, including two years of teaching
experience in any recognized educational system and two years of occupational
experience

Five year minimum of documented success at the senior management level.
Primary residency in the district is expected.

Nominations and applications will be accepted until the position is filled. However, to ensure full consideration, individuals should submit a complete application prior to November 14, 2007. The Presidential Screening Committee will begin its review of applications shortly after this date. This is a confidential search process.
